Incident in Ngong: Elderly Motorist Dies after Altercation with Police Officer

In a deeply unfortunate turn of events, an elderly motorist lost his life in Ngong on Friday after an altercation with a police officer. Eyewitnesses report that the officer pulled the motorist out of his car and forcibly placed him in the back seat, resulting in the tragic outcome.

According to witnesses at the scene, the incident unfolded when the traffic police officer stopped the motorist. After a brief discussion inside the vehicle, they relocated to an area where trucks were parked. It was during this time that a quarrel arose, allegedly over a sum of money. The officer demanded Sh500, but the driver had only given him Sh200, leading to a heated exchange.

The situation escalated when the police officer forcibly removed the elderly man from his car and threw him into the back seat. Shockingly, it was soon discovered that the motorist had collapsed and passed away.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the police officer called for assistance from the Ngong police station. A vehicle was dispatched to transport the deceased to the Ngong sub-county hospital. However, by 2 pm, the body had yet to be transferred to the mortuary, leaving the situation unresolved.

Kajiado North police commander Abduba Hussein shed some light on the circumstances leading up to the tragedy. According to him, the old man's vehicle had been deemed faulty during the traffic stop, prompting the driver to request to be taken to the police station. However, while en route, the driver suddenly collapsed at a location near the Bounty Hotel, close to Ngong Stadium, and tragically lost his life.

Regarding the allegations of a bribe, Commander Hussein refrained from confirming or denying the existence of such a scenario, citing the report provided by his Officer in Charge (OCS), who had visited the scene of the incident.

As the investigation continues, it has been revealed that the deceased had a history of heart disease and had previously battled with Covid-19, experiencing complications from the infection. The police commander learned from the deceased's family that he had faced multiple heart-related challenges prior to the fatal incident.

This heartbreaking event has left the community in shock and calls for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the motorist's untimely demise.
